In court documents, it was revealed that Angelina had issues selling her shares in Quimicum, the company that owns the chateau, amid her ongoing divorce proceedings. She later asked a court to allow the sale despite the divorce not being finalized yet.
Brad Pitt‘s company, Mondo Bongo, separately filed a lawsuit against her company, Nouvel, regarding the estate in order to retain majority share of it.
When they first purchased their shares in Quimicum in 2008, their respective companies split the ownership 60-40, with Mondo Bongo having the majority share. In 2013, the split went to 50-50 when Mondo Bongo transferred some shares to Nouvel, the lawsuit claimed, via People.
The documents claimed Brad sold Angelina the shares back in 2013 “for a symbolic price of 1 Euro, below the true value of her stake, and is now arguing the transfer should be voided.”
The two have been in a battle over their divorce since 2016. Find out more details about their battle over the estate.
