Georgia gets first 2024 commitment in WR Carr

Ny Carr, a prospective top prospect in the 2024 class, committed to Georgia late Tuesday night.

“I just sat down and put all my options together and chose to stay home,” Carr told ESPN.

Carr is a 6-foot, 170-pound wide receiver from Colquitt County High School in Colquitt County, Ga.

He took unofficial visits to Ohio State, Michigan, Florida State and Florida. Carr went to Athens three times this year: a junior day in January, an unofficial visit in March and a camp in June. Kirby Smart’s impression on Carr was a lasting one.

“Me and coach Kirby talk about mostly family,” Carr said. “It’ll be about football every now and then, but he likes the way I get behind the defense and use my length and hands and (my) ability to read out the defense.”

Carr is Georgia’s first pledge of the 2024 cycle after Fort Lauderdale cornerback Antione Jackson flipped to Miami on July 2.

“I think I’ll fit in,” Carr said. “I feel I can play everywhere – the slot, outside and in the backfield, if needed. I feel I’ll make the offense even more explosive.”

Georgia’s 2023 class is currently ranked fifth by ESPN — tops in the SEC — and has 10 ESPN 300 recruits, headlined by Phenix City, Alabama, cornerback A.J. Harris (No. 20).
